Statistical Model of Nuclide Shell Structure

چکیده
In 1940s M.G. Mayer discovered that the number of protons and neutrons is 2, 8, 20, 28, 50, 82 and 126 and soon. These kinds of nuclides are stable in a special way. This characteristic is called “the magic number” law. The existence of “the magic number” indicates that the nuclide is characteristic of a shell structure. Afterwards, M.G. Mayer and J.H.D Jensen proposed, with the nuclide independent motion as its theoretic basis, the shell structure of nuclides and as a result explained the “magic number” law [1].

متن کاملComplex nuclear-structure phenomena revealed from the nuclide production in fragmentation reactions
Complex structural effects in the nuclide production from the projectile fragmentation of 1 A GeV U nuclei in a titanium target are reported. The structure seems to be insensitive to the excitation energy induced in the reaction. This is in contrast to the prominent structural features found in nuclear fission and in transfer reactions, which gradually disappear with increasing excitation energ...
متن کاملCalculated nuclide production yields in relativistic collisions of ssile nuclei ?
A model calculation is presented which predicts the complex nuclide distribution resulting from peripheral relativistic heavy-ion collisions involving ssile nuclei. The model is based on a modern version of the abrasion-ablation model which describes the formation of excited prefragments due to the nuclear collisions and their consecutive decay. The competition between the evaporation of di ere...
متن کاملProbing the Clustering Effects in Nuclear Excitations
Clustering is of fundamental importance in structure studies at all levels, from celestial bodies to elementary particles, and appears as intriguing phenomenon in many systems, including nuclide. The stable nuclide is basically described according to the independent particle model, in which the nucleons are moving almost freely in a mean field, although clustering phenomenon may appear in some ...
متن کاملDeciphering boulder mobility and erosion from cosmogenic nuclide exposure dating
[1] Large boulders are prominent features in many geomorphic systems and are frequently targeted for cosmogenic exposure dating. Presently, there are little data or theory predicting exposure age, erosion rate, and mobilization frequency of boulders in environments such as channels, talus slopes, or moraines. Here we explore the potential for cosmogenic isotope analysis to constrain the transpo...
